Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force team have arrested a suspect wanted for the armed robbery of a T-Mobile store in Broadview Heights last month.

The suspect, identified as Taite Gourley, was captured by U.S. Marshals in Maple Heights on Friday afternoon.

Gourley is accused of robbing the T-Mobile store in Broadview Heights on January 26, forcing the clerk at gunpoint to empty a safe containing nearly $20,000 worth of electronic devices, mostly cellphones.

On Thursday, Broadview Heights police detectives identified the suspect as Gourley and notified the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force for assistance. Members of the task force spotted a vehicle they believed Gourley was riding in as a passenger and followed it until it stopped at a gas station on Granger Road in Maple Heights.

Marshals moved in to arrest Gourley and found he was carrying a loaded handgun. It is not yet known if it was the same weapon used in the robbery. Gourley is now in the custody of the Broadview Heights Police Department.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement, “Our Fugitive Task Force worked closely with the Broadview Heights Detectives to close in on this violent fugitive’s location and prevent another community from falling victim to such a callous crime.”
