Making charcuterie boards for Halloween

Step up your charcuterie game for Halloween with some spooky seasonal treats.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — Involve your kids in the latest charcuterie board craze with recipes that capture the essence of the spooky season. 

Whether it's a cozy family movie night or a lively Halloween gathering in your neighborhood, your Hy-Vee registered dietitian has you covered.

Melissa Jaeger visited KARE 11 Saturday to showcase nourishing ingredients and also provide insightful tips for engaging your kids. Discover a collection of recipes, ideally suited for assembling your very own char-BOO-terie board.

RECIPE: Ricotta Pumpkin Dip

All you need:

  • 16 oz BelGioioso Whole Milk Ricotta con Latte cheese
  • 2 tbsp pure pumpkin puree
  • 1½ tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 tsp maple syrup (or to taste)

All you do:

  1. Mix all ingredients. Serve with Simple Mills Honey Cinnamon or Chocolate Brownie Seed & Nut Flour Sweet Thins. 

RECIPE: Apple Spiders

All you need:

  • 4 large green or red apples
  • 8 tbsp Hy-Vee creamy peanut butter, divided
  • 64 Hy-Vee mini pretzel sticks
  • Optional: Black gel frosting, sprinkles, or candy eyeballs

All you do:                                               

  • Slice green or red apples into ½-inch circles. Spread 1 tablespoon of peanut butter between two apple slices and add 4 mini pretzel stick legs to each side of the apple. Finish with black gel frosting/sprinkles or candy eyeballs for eyes and mouths if desired. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
