According to a letter sent to families by Medina High School Principal Elisa Tedona on Sunday, school officials received reports of the possible threat via the "Safe School Helpline." School district administrators worked alongside the Medina Police Department to "investigate and respond to the reports immediately."

Tedona stated that the Medina Police Department detained the "individual of concern," adding that "due to the age of the individual, we cannot share any further details at this time."

"We, along with the Medina Police Department, want to assure all of our students, staff and families that this concern will not impact the safety of Medina High School," Tedona added.

The Medina School District community is encouraged to use the "Safe School Helpline" by one of three options:

  • Call 1-800-418-6423, ext. 359
