16-year-old girl missing from Trumbull County area found safe

CORTLAND, Ohio — Update on July 13, 6:39 a.m.

On Tuesday, July 12, officials confirmed that Makenzie Carson was found safe. The Regional Endangered Child Advisory has been canceled.

Update on July 9, at 2:30 p.m.

Officials believe that Carson is in the Columbus area. The following counties have been added to the advisory: Delaware Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Hocking, Licking, Madison, Muskingum, Perry, Pickaway, and Union Counties.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has issued a Regional Endangered Child Advisory for a 16-year-old girl who went missing early Thursday morning in Trumbull County.

Carson was last seen around 1 a.m. at Mosquito Lake State Park in Cortland. At this time, she is believed to be with her boyfriend DeAngelo Bartelli, who is also missing. Her last known location was somewhere in Akron.

Makenzie is described as being 5-foot-1 and weighing 135 pounds with white skin, brown hair, and hazel eyes. She was wearing a gray hoodie with the word "Pirates" written on the front in orange letters and a red long-sleeve crop top shirt underneath with ruffles on the sleeves. She also had on jean shorts and white, fuzzy Crocs.

While officials stress this is not an Amber Alert, Makenzie is "believed to be in danger." The following Ohio counties are affected by the advisory:
