Following the collision, the Subaru went off the right side of the road into a ditch, while the Ford became disabled.

The driver of the Ford, Emery Black of Plymouth, was pronounced dead at UH Samaritan Medical Center in Ashland.

The 21-year-old driver of the Subaru was taken to UH Samaritan Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by Ashland Fire and EMS on the scene. U.S. 42 remained closed for nearly 2 hours after the crash.

At this time, the crash remains under investigation, but drugs and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors.
