Walmart to remodel 14 Northeast Ohio stores, invest more than $85 million: See if your local store is getting the upgrades

CLEVELAND — 14 Walmart locations in the Greater Cleveland area are set to be remodeled according to the retail giant.

This is all a part of Walmart's plan to invest over $85 million in Northeast Ohio in an effort to provide a more efficient experience with expanded shopping options.

A Walmart representative tells 3News that the following stores will undergo the remodel:

  • 33752 Vine St. - Eastlake - 44095
  • 4141 Pearl Rd. - Medina - 44256
  • 2887 S Arlington Rd. - Akron - 44312
  • 2052 N State Route 53 - Fremont - 43420
  • 1996 E Main St. - Ashland - 44805
  • 8585 Pearl Rd. - Strongsville - 44136
  • 24801 Brookpark Rd. - North Olmsted - 44070
  • 2700 W State St. - Alliance - 44601
  • 6067 N Ridge Rd. - Madison - 44057
  • 3400 Steelyard Dr. - Cleveland - 44109
  • 15050 S Springdale Ave. - Middlefield - 44062
  • 1000 Chestnut Commons Dr. - Elyria - 44035
  • 4004 Tuscarawas St. W. - Canton - 44708
  • 46440 US Route 20 - Oberlin - 44074

In the release, Walmart provided a list of improvements that they plan on making throughout the remodeled stores in Northeast Ohio:

  • Pickup - Busy customers love Walmart’s pickup option. It gives them the convenience of shopping online and the ease of quickly picking up groceries without leaving their cars. The best part - there is no fee to use Walmart Grocery Pickup. Customers using SNAP also have the option to use pickup services in most states.
  • Delivery - Walmart’s convenient delivery service is also a hit with customers. Even more, Walmart has now made both pickup and delivery contact free. 
  • Express delivery – customers now have the option to have their deliveries made in under two hours.
  • New fixtures - LED lighting and flooring throughout the entire store for better line of sight and easier navigation
  • Refreshed interior and exterior -  including paint and signage 
  • Modern, remodeled bathrooms
  • Added or refreshed mother’s room - a clean, comfortable, and private option for nursing mothers
  • Vision Center - Walmart created a Vision Center experience designed around the customer that is convenient, comfortable, and affordable that offers an assortment of quality eyeglasses and sunglasses with prescription lenses
  • Front end transformation - increased numbers of self-checkout lanes and manned registers for customer convenience 
  • Expansion of seasonal department - a wider variety of summer merchandise to allow for summer fun year-round 
  • Walmart Pay - a touch-free way to pay

"More than a third of the state’s population lives in Northeastern Ohio, so whether someone is shopping in-store, online, through mobile or Pick Up, our brick-and-mortar stores play an important role in fulfilling those orders. These investments will make it easier for our stores and associates to get customers what they want, when they want it.”
