MANSFIELD, Ohio — The Mansfield Police Department is investigating the death of a 19-year-old man who was found fatally shot on Friday morning.

According to a release, officers were called to the 300 block of Jennings Avenue just after 7 a.m. for a report of "man down." Police arrived to find a deceased man laying on the ground, dressed in all black, and wearing a mask. A gun was found near the body along with other evidence of a shooting.

The victim was identified by the Richland County Coroner's Office as 19-year-old Joseph A. Andrews, who had been reported missing by his family earlier that day. Also, police report that a car that Andrews had been known to drive had been found "engulfed in flames" at approximately 12:45 a.m. in North Lake Park.

Detectives are working to identify the owner of the vehicle, but efforts have been delayed because of the fire damage. Police are also trying to find out what led to the shooting death of Joseph Andrews, as well as identify suspects in the case.
