Ohio Amber Alert for Kaylee Cope canceled after teen found safe

Grove City police say the suspect is in custody.

CLEVELAND — UPDATE (3:10 p.m.): Authorities announced the Amber Alert for 15-year-old Kaylee Cope has been canceled. 

According to a social media post from Grove City police, Cope was found safe and the suspect, Jeffery Brian Gimenez, is in custody. 

"The Grove City Division of Police would like to thank the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Columbus Police, and all our law enforcement and media partners for assisting with a safe resolution," the department posted.

An Ohio Amber Alert has been issued by Columbus-area police for missing 15-year-old Kaylee M. Cope and the suspect is considered "possibly armed and dangerous." 

Grove City police in Franklin County say 17-year-old suspect Jefferey Brian Gimenez took Cope from 2726 Independence Way in Grove City at around 11: 30 p.m. Friday. 

Cope is 5 feet tall, weighs around 100 lbs. and has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink crop top and gray sweatpants.

Gimenez is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 90 lbs. and has black hair and blue eyes. Police said he has "cautions for previous robbery and has felony warrants for previous kidnapping of victim" and is wanted out of Pickaway County for robbery.

Gimenez was last seen on social media Friday with a gun saying he "has a bullet" for Cope, according to police.

The involved vehicle is a silver Honda four-door sedan with black tinted windows. Police said Gimenez was last seen in the car two days ago and that it is possibly stolen. 

Police ask anyone who has seen Cope, the suspect or the vehicle to call 911 or call 1-877-262-3764.
