Ohio manhunt continues for fugitive who threatened President Trump

On Tuesday, communities in the Mansfield area were advised to keep homes and doors locked, as schools closed for a second day.

The search continued in the Mansfield area Tuesday for a fugitive accused of making assassination threats against the President and other politicians.

In the air, and in heavy brush, agencies searched hard for 27-year-old Shawn Christy, who allegedly threatened to shoot President Trump and officers who tried to stop him.

After months on the run, troopers believe the Pennsylvania man crashed a stolen truck along I-71 on Sunday and then simply ran off.

They do not believe the move was entirely random and describe Christy as an outdoorsman who can live off the land.

“Christy has at least a little bit of a plan and so we’re trying to deal with that and trying to combat that,” said Anne Murphy with the Northeast Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.

On Tuesday, communities were advised to keep homes and doors locked, as schools closed for a second day.

Chris Holfinger was checking up on his brother’s home but says he does not see people doing much differently.

“People out here are woodsy themselves and they’ve got their own protection and firearms,” he said.

Agents say Christy should be considered armed and dangerous and are offering a $20 thousand reward for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or Marshals direct at: 1-866-4-WANTED or text keyword WANTED and the tip to TIP411 (847411).

His father, Craig, tells Channel 3 News that he hopes it all ends peacefully.

“Mom and I love him dearly, there’s nothing too big that we can’t get through together as a family," he said.

When asked how long investigators plan to keep on searching the region for Christy, they said it remains indefinite.
