Suspect surrenders after 18-year-old Ravenna man injured in shooting

RAVENNA, Ohio — A suspect has turned himself in following a shooting in Ravenna that left an 18-year-old injured.

Police say a physical fight between the suspect and the victim led to the shooting on the porch of a home in the 200 block of Grant Street Saturday night. The suspect fled the scene on foot was not located.

The victim, identified as Michael Simpkins, was shot in the leg. He was taken to Portage University Hospitals and later transferred to a Cleveland area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses in the area were able to help police identify the suspect as 18-year-old Aaron Harvey. 

Ravenna police say Harvey surrendered at the First District Cleveland Police Station Sunday afternoon. He was transferred to the Portage County Justice Center on felonious assault charges.
