The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a motorcycle crash that occurred on Friday night in Seneca County, leaving one person with severe injuries.

The crash involved Scott Carter, 54, who was driving a 1995 Harley Davidson without wearing a helmet, and Kimberly Illig, 54, who was driving a 2017 Toyota Highlander.

Carter, of Republic, was seriously injured in the crash and taken by Mercy Life Flight to St. Vincent Hospital.

Authorities said Illig of Tiffin, who was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time, was not injured in the collision.

Alcohol or drug usage is not considered a factor at this time, though the crash is still under investigation.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:15 p.m. on County Road 38 in Pleasant Township.

Authorities said Tiffin was driving east on County Road 38 while Carter was driving west, when Tiffin turned left into a private driveway and collided with Carter on his motorcycle.

Tiffin's Highlander was damaged in the crash, but she did not require medical attention, according to a report from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Carter's motorcycle was damaged extensively in the crash, and was towed from the scene by D&D Total Repair.

In addition to officers from The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Norwalk Post and Mercy Life Flight, personnel from Green Springs Fire Department and North Central EMS responded to the scene.
