SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A cause of death remains unclear after an Akron man died while in Springfield Township police custody Monday.
According to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office, 30-year-old Ryan Angerstien became unresponsive when he was placed in handcuffs on the ground.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations says it responded to Nichols Road Monday around 3 a.m. The initial report was for a man banging on doors as he yelled for help. A BCI spokesperson says two Tasers were collected from the scene and Angerstein was hit at least once by a Taser.
Angerstein was pronounced dead at the scene.
