Canton man arrested in connection to several Summit County car break-ins

Sheriff's deputies found 'many' break-ins had allegedly occurred in the cities of Green and New Franklin and the suspect was tracked down in Stark County.

CLEVELAND — A Canton man was arrested Saturday in Summit County in connection to multiple alleged break-ins and thefts of valuable items in the cities of Green and New Franklin. 

Richard Hollenbaugh, 34, was charged with multiple felony counts of breaking and entering and theft. 

Summit County Sheriff's deputies responded to the city of Green after multiple people had reported having things stolen from their vehicles. Police investigated and found "many" break-ins had allegedly occurred in Green as well as a few miles away in New Franklin.

According to the Summit County Sheriff's Office, stolen items included a drone, backpacks and laptop computers.

After Summit County authorities alerted other law enforcement agencies of the alleged break-ins, Hollenbaugh's car was stopped by authorities in Stark County. Summit County's detective bureau obtained and executed a search warrant on the car and recovered many of the allegedly stolen items. 

Hollenbaugh was transported to the Summit County Jail. He could possibly face more charges as the investigation remains ongoing.
