SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — Thousands of people woke up up without electricity Friday as power outages impacted the region. Summit and Portage counties were among the hardest hit with numerous outages reported throughout the morning and into the afternoon.

FirstEnergy's outage map is saying the outages are due to "severe weather," which includes icy conditions after our latest round of wintry weather made its way through Northeast Ohio.

Below is a list of power outages throughout the region. Be sure to check back frequently as we will update the list as new data comes in.

OUTAGES AS OF 12:10 P.M. FRIDAY

  • Summit: 2,565 outages (down from 5,091 outages reported at 5:30 a.m.)
  • Portage: 760 outages (down from 7,749 outages reported at 6:30 a.m.)
  • Cuyahoga: 108 outages (down from 2,696 outages reported at 10:40 a.m.)

A Winter Weather Advisory was activated for all of Northeast Ohio from Thursday night into Friday morning due to ice and snow concerns. Our weather conditions are expected to improve throughout the day Friday despite some lake effect snow chances.

“We’re not anticipating anything significant as far as accumulation," Strano said. "You might pick up a quick coating if a snow shower persists.”
