$4K reward offered for info on person who burned dog to death in Phoenix

Silent Witness is offering a reward for info on the person who burned a dog in Phoenix on March 5.

PHOENIX — A $4,000 reward is available for information on the suspect who poured gasoline on a sleeping dog and then lit the animal on fire in central Phoenix.

Duke, a 16-year-old dog, was sleeping in his backyard Tuesday morning when an unknown person doused the animal with gasoline at about 5:30 a.m., according to Silent Witness. The suspect then lit Duke and his mattress on fire, resulting in the dog sustaining severe burn injuries.

The incident occurred near 27th Avenue and Washington Street.

Silent Witness said Duke later had to be put down. Anyone with information about the animal cruelty case is encouraged to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.

Silent Witness:

Arizona's Silent Witness program allows people to send in tips and share information about crimes happening within their local communities.

The program shares unsolved felony case information in multiple ways, including TV, radio and social media.

Anyone who has information on a crime or recognizes a suspect described by the program is asked to call 480-948-6377, go to the program's website online or download the Silent Witness app to provide a tip. The identity of anyone who submits a tip is kept anonymous.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case.

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
