CLEVELAND — The Ohio primary election on March 19 is shaping up to be a hotly contested race between Republican US Senate candidates Matt Dolan, Bernie Moreno and Frank LaRose. At this point, it’s anyone’s guess as to who will end up on the ticket to face off against Democratic incumbent Sherrod Brown in November.

On this week’s edition of Ohio Has Issues, Stephanie Haney and Mike Polk Jr. dig into the reasoning behind last-minute support being shown to the candidates in the forms of an endorsement from Governor Mike DeWine and a rally being thrown by former President Donald Trump, with USA Today Network reporter Haley BeMiller and NBC national political reporter Henry Gomez.

Since all 3 Republican candidates have said that immigration and border control, along with the economy are some of the most important issues to Ohio voters, we finish out the show with expert analysis on those topics. Case Western Reserve University political science professor Justin Buchler to talk about what’s really happening with the economy. Then, Stephanie and Mike finish things out with attorney and The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law professor César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández. He fact checks comments each of the candidates have made about immigration, and shares his firsthand experience with the reality of the situation at the US’s Southwestern border.

Check out César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández’s latest book on immigration, “Welcome the Wretched,” here.
