The University of Akron encouraging students to vote, registering on-campus patrons

The school will hold several voting events in the coming weeks

AKRON, Ohio — The University of Akron (UA) is doing everything they can to make sure that their students are prepared for the upcoming election.

Ahead of National Voter Registration Day, September 22, the school has been alerting students to registration events around campus, including social media announcements and hung posters.

On Tuesday, UA will be holding a voter registration party in the Hower Tabor Student Union, with games, activities, and of course, voter registration.

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose will visit campus the following day, September 23, to discuss the importance of voting in this election.

“It is so important that UA students participate in the voting process,” said Matt Akers, public liaison and assistant director of the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics. “Election Day in 2020 will have a large impact on the future of our country at the federal, state and local levels. Every vote counts.”
