Investigation into Ohio State coach Urban Meyer expected to be completed within 2 weeks

Meyer was put on paid leave last week in the wake of questions arising over his handling of domestic violence allegations made against a former assistant.

The independent working group tapped by Ohio State’s Board of Trustees is expected to have their investigation into head football coach Urban Meyer completed within the next two weeks, the school said in a statement late Sunday night.

Meyer was put on paid leave last week in the wake of questions arising over his handling of domestic violence allegations made against since-fired assistant coach Zach Smith by his then-wife in 2015.

“Ohio State is committed to a thorough and complete investigation,” Jo Ann Davidson, chair of the working group and former Ohio House Speaker, said in the statement. “We look forward to sharing the results of this investigation and any action the university may take.”

The working group met last last week where Davidson was selected chair. The group also includes former acting U.S. Deputy Attorney General Craig Morford, former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio Carter Stewart and current trustees Alex Fischer, Janet Porter and Alex Shumate.
