Olmsted Falls to compete in OHSAA Girls Basketball Division I Championship in Dayton

The Bulldogs will take on the Princeton Vikings in the championship game at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday night.

DAYTON, Ohio — The Olmsted Falls girls basketball team is one win away from making history.

Following a 58-53 victory over Pickerington Central on Friday night, the Bulldogs (25-3) earned themselves a spot in the 2023 OHSAA Girls Basketball Division I State Championship game.

On Saturday night, Olmsted Falls will compete for their first-ever state title in the program's history against the Cincinnati Princeton Vikings (27-2).

Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. at UD Arena on the University of Dayton's campus.

Princeton locked a spot in the championship game after knocking down Grafton Midview 61-57 in the 2023 OHSAA Girls Basketball Division I State Semifinals on Friday night.

Heading into the fourth quarter, Olmsted Falls trailed Pickerington Central 42-36. A prolific fourth quarter led the Bulldogs to a victory, as they went on a 12-point scoring run, pushing them ahead of the Tigers.

The Bulldogs were led by forward Mia Kalich, who scored 16 points, making 6 of 7 shots. She also notched a double-double, bringing down 12 boards in the contest.

Danielle Cameron led the Bulldogs in scoring with 23 points, 18 of which came from behind the arc.

Earlier this week, 3News' Brianna Dahlquist spoke with senior point guard Paige Kohler ahead of the final four.

"We just want to win it all. We've never done it, and we're making history by making it to the Final Four. We want to win it, we don't wanna go home without the trophy," said senior point guard Paige Kohler.

Kalich also attributed the team's success to the girls' camaraderie on and off the court.

"We're so close off the court. I mean, we're always hanging out, and we're always either getting food after practice or having a movie night at someone's house at team sleepovers. So that friendship and camaraderie off the court translates to what we do on the court," said Kalich.
