Cleveland Monsters pull off thrilling overtime victory to edge Senators in Game 3 of Northern Division Semifinals

CLEVELAND — It's an exciting time in Cleveland for sports fans. 

The Cleveland Cavaliers are in the Eastern Conference Semifinals of the 2024 NBA Playoffs, the Cleveland Guardians are leading the AL Central and the Cleveland Monsters have taken a series lead in the AHL Northern Division Semifinals. 

On Wednesday night, the Cleveland Monsters defeated the Belleville Senators in a thrilling 3-2 double-overtime victory. The game marked the team's first home playoff game in five years. 

Owen Sillinger's game-winning goal at the 4:41 mark in double overtime gave the Monsters a 2-1 lead in a best-of-five series as the team tries to capture the Calder Cup.

According to the AHL, Wednesday night's game had 12,659 fans, the largest attendance for an AHL postseason game since Cleveland sold out Game 4 of the Calder Cup Finals in 2016. 

The Monsters and Senators will face off at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Game 4 of the series on Friday at 7 p.m

With a win, the Monsters would advance to the North Division finals. If the Senators win on Friday night, they will force a Game 5, which will be played in Cleveland on Sunday, May 12, at 3 p.m.
