Cleveland Indians activate third baseman José Ramírez from injured list after breaking right hand

Ramírez returns as the Indians are just a half-game behind the Rays for the final AL Wild Card spot.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Indians' final push this week to make the postseason will be bolstered by the return of third baseman José Ramírez.

The Tribe activated Ramírez on Tuesday prior to opening a three game series in Chicago with the White Sox. The two-time All-Star has been out of action since breaking his right hand on August 24 while taking a swing.

The Indians expected him to miss five to seven weeks.

Ramírez is hitting .254 with 20 home runs and 75 RBIs in 126 games.

The Indians open play on Tuesday a half-game behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the final Wild Card spot in the American League. The Tribe will play three games in Chicago against the White Sox before closing out the season in Washington D.C. against the Nationals this weekend.
