A day after placing OF Leonys Martin on the disabled list with a non-baseball condition, the Cleveland Indians say the 30-year-old is currently being treated at Cleveland Clinic.

Manager Terry Francona addressed Martin's hospitalization for an undisclosed illness prior to Friday's game in Chicago against the White Sox.

"We have to respect what the family wishes so we are," Francona said per Paul Hoynes of The Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com. "We talked to the team a little bit. We just need to respect their privacy right now."

"What I would say, if you believe in saying prayers and things like that, keep him in your thoughts. But he's in a good place. He's at the Clinic and he's getting good care," Francona added.

Hoynes says Chris Antonetti, the team's president of baseball operations, visited Martin and his family at the Clinic on Friday. Martin's hospitalization was also referenced on Friday night during the Indians' television broadcast on SportsTime Ohio.

Martin's illness first came into play on Wednesday, when he missed Cleveland's 5-2 victory over the Twins. According to Francona at the time, Martin was dealing with "intestinal turmoil."

In six games with the Indians since being acquired from Detroit at the trade deadline, Martin has hit 5-for-15, with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs. On the season, he's batting .255 to go along with 11 home runs and 33 RBIs.
