Thanks to the various changes in design and color scheme they've made since debuting in 1970, the Cleveland Cavaliers possess a rich uniform history.

It doesn't appear, however, that the Cavs will be tapping into their aesthetic ancestry next season -- just as they haven't this season. According to SportsLogos.net's Conrad Burry, who has broken several NBA uniform-related stories in the past, seven teams are slated to wear throwback designs next season -- and not one of them is Cleveland.

Rather, it will be the Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors, Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Utah Jazz and Orlando Magic that wear throwbacks -- or as Nike calls them: 'Classics' -- in the 2018-19 campaign. The Cavs haven't and are not scheduled to wear throwback uniforms this season, after having done so in each of the previous two campaigns.

That the Cavs wouldn't be tabbed to wear a classic design in two consecutive seasons comes as somewhat of a surprise. LeBron James consistently lays claim to one of the NBA's top-selling jerseys, currently ranking second in the category behind Warriors guard Stephen Curry, according to NBA.com.

Although James can opt out of his contract and potentially leave Cleveland this summer, that might just be another reason for the Cavs to wear throwback uniforms next season. A classic design -- often popular with fans -- could help prevent a drastic drop in uniform sales should James leave Cleveland.

Nevertheless, the Cavs -- who routinely wore throwback jerseys throughout James' first stint with the team from 2004-10 -- won't do so next season. For a look at some of the options the team could have worn, check out our photo gallery of the Cavs' extensive uniform history.
