CLEVELAND -- On Sunday, the Cleveland Cavaliers will begin their quest for a fourth straight NBA Finals appearance.

And when they do, they'll do so with a new motto for the 2018 NBA Playoffs.

Following the Cavs' regular-season finale against the New York Knicks on Wednesday, team owner Dan Gilbert unveiled his team's new postseason mantra, "Whatever it takes." According to Gilbert, the motto is a play on all the Cavs have overcome since the 2017-18 season began.

"CLE, your @cavs franchise endured much this year; our guys fought thru injuries, Coach Lue & K.Love overcame tough challenges in a public way, our GM & front office remade the roster at the deadline in unprecedented fashion, our leader defied Father Time," Gilbert wrote in his first tweet, which he followed with, "Our bowtie wearing lottery rep continues to proudly battle. Its clear all of the will to overcome is fueled by support of the best fans in the world. This endurance & fight from the inside always manifests itself on the outside for 1 reason: This town & this org will do [whatever it takes]."

For all the team has endured -- from the trade of Kyrie Irving to the injuries suffered by Kevin Love to the temporary departure of head coach Tyronn Lue and even Gilbert's son, Nick Gilbert's brain surgery, the team continues to endure. With a 50-32 record, the Cavs enter the playoffs as the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference, which will match them up with the fifth-seeded Indiana Pacers in the opening round.

Game 1 of the conference quarterfinals between the Cavs and Pacers will take place at Quicken Loans Arena on Sunday. Tip-off is slated for 3:30 p.m. ET.
