CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Browns quarterback Tyrod Taylor returned to the team’s preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles after suffering a left hand injury in the first quarter and finished out the first half against the reigning Super Bowl champions at FirstEnergy Stadium Thursday night.

After missing two drives while being evaluated by the medical team in the locker room, Taylor hustled his way to the bench and reclaimed his spot with the first-team offense early in the second quarter of play against the Eagles.

Following his return, Taylor completed seven passes for 46 yards.

Taylor ended the first half 11 of 16 for 65 yards and rushed for five more on two carries.

Taylor suffered the injury on the Browns’ second drive of the game, and was listed as questionable to return to the game.

On fourth-and-goal from Philadelphia’s one-yard line, Taylor scrambled out of the pocket and toward the left side of the formation, and as soon as he let go of the ball, his left hand buckled underneath him on the way to the turf.

As soon as Taylor hit the field, members of the offensive line immediately waved to the Cleveland sideline for medical assistance, but before the training staff could get to the opposite sideline, the eighth-year quarterback hustled his way over the Browns’ bench.

Prior to the injury, Taylor completed four of his eight throws for 19 yards.

In the preseason, Taylor completed 13 of his 20 pass attempts for 140 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions.

After helping break the Buffalo Bills’ NFL-worst 17-year postseason drought in 2017, Taylor was traded to the Browns, who coincidently took over for his former team as the organization with the longest streak of seasons without a playoff appearance.

During his seven-year career with the Baltimore Ravens and Bills, Taylor completed 793 of his 1,271 attempts (62.4 percent) for 9,056 yards and 51 touchdowns against 18 interceptions. Of those 793 completions, 116 went for at least 20 yards and 22 more were 40-yard gains.

In his three seasons with the Bills, the 6-foot-1, 215-pound Taylor completed 774 passes for 8,837 yards and 51 touchdowns against 16 interceptions.
