Man dies after struck by semi on I-77 in Summit County

'The man walked into the southbound lanes of I-77 and was subsequently struck by a semi tractor trailer,' according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

GREEN, Ohio — A 49-year-old man from Springfield Township has died after being struck by a truck on I-77 in Summit County early Sunday morning.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office says authorities responded to the scene shortly before 3 a.m. at mile marker 118.8 in the city of Green.

“The man walked into the southbound lanes of I-77 and was subsequently struck by a semi tractor trailer,” according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was taken to a local hospital by the Green Fire Department where he later died. His name has not yet been released.

Authorities say the truck driver was not hurt.

No charges have been filed at this time as the incident remains under investigation.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office did not release any additional details.
