National Weather Service issues tornado watch for several Northeast Ohio counties

The watch will be in effect until 4 a.m. Wednesday, with much of the southern part of the region affected.

CLEVELAND — EDITOR'S NOTE: The Tornado Watch has expired.

BELOW IS THE ORIGINAL STORY WHEN THE TORNADO WATCH WAS ACTIVE.

We are gearing up for another dose of severe weather that is expected to move through Northeast Ohio this evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for the following counties until 4 a.m. Wednesday:

  • Ashland
  • Carroll
  • Holmes
  • Richland
  • Stark
  • Tuscarawas
  • Wayne

The 3News Weather Team says "all modes of severe weather are possible with this round with heavy rain, damaging winds, hail and even a few tornadoes."

While we could see severe weather across all of northern Ohio, the highest threat is the further south and west you're located.

The good news, according to the 3News Weather Team, is that overnight, we'll clear these storms out and quiet down for our Wednesday. We're in store for another summer-like day with highs in the upper 70s/near 80.

Another round of rain and a few rumbles is on the way for our Thursday. This round will bring a dose of much cooler air to northern Ohio for Friday and Saturday with some lingering showers on Friday off the lake.
