Severe Thunderstorm Watch for several Northeast Ohio counties in effect until 9:00 p.m. tonight

Some thunderstorms could become severe with damaging winds being the primary weather hazard.

CLEVELAND — The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for several counties in Northeast Ohio until 9:00 p.m. tonight.

  • Cuyahoga
  • Geauga
  • Lake
  • Mahoning
  • Medina
  • Portage
  • Stark
  • Summit
  • Trumbull
  • Tuscarawas
  • Wayne

Earlier this afternoon, there was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the northeast portion of Ashtabula County. The warning expired at 5:15 p.m.

The 3News Weather Team is watching for some scattered storms that will move into Northeast Ohio throughout the day. This comes with warm temperatures that will be well into the 80s before more 90-degree heat arrives this weekend.

The National Weather Service says some thunderstorms could become severe with damaging winds being the primary weather hazard.
