Live weather updates: Tracking weekend lake effect snow in Northeast Ohio

The snow bands have made their way into Northeast Ohio causing accumulation and several traffic incidents throughout the region.

CLEVELAND — Although the official start of winter is still weeks away, this weekend will bring another round of cold temperatures and snow to Northeast Ohio. 

This snow event is expected to impact areas in the primary snowbelt as well as the secondary snowbelt, which is why a Lake Effect Snow Warning has been activated across Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake counties from 8 p.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday.

10 a.m. Lake effect snow is continuing north back to Lake County as roads are covered in a picture shared by ODOT 

9:30 a.m. 3News' Payton Domschke gave an update on the lake effect snow as well as road conditions across Northeast Ohio 

9:20 a.m. 265 crews remain cleaning up from snow across the state of Ohio, according to ODOT.

10:00 p.m. As inclement weather makes its way through Northeast Ohio, many confirmed traffic accidents/incidents have been reported. We will update this list as more are known:

  • Crash on I-90 East near MLK Drive - Lanes currently closed

  • Multiple cars reported skidding off the road on I-176 Southbound - Closed near Spring Road exit due to icy conditions and car spin outs

1:48 p.m. On Twitter, ESPN's Adam Schefter said the Buffalo Bills are on track to leave at 4 p.m. Saturday for their game against the Cleveland Browns in Detroit

1:12 p.m. Crews in Ashtabula County are pretreating roadways ahead of Saturday night's snowstorm

9:47 a.m. The Lake County Sheriff's Office put out a warning to residents ahead of Saturday night's Lake Effect Snow Warning

The lake affect snow watch has been changed to a snow warning, and the totals have risen to 6 to 12 inches. Not sure...

6:52 a.m. The Ohio Department of Transportation warned that travel in Northeast Ohio should be avoided during the lake effect snow event
