2 dead, 2 injured after driver crashes while fleeing police in Summit County

Police report that the suspect's car is also connected to a Pennsylvania crime.

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — Troopers from the Hiram Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Tuesday morning on Boston Mills Road in Summit County. 

Just before 8:30 a.m., troopers observed a green 2010 BMW travelling over 90 miles per hour in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 near milepost 214 in Trumbull County. 

Officials tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver fled marking the start of a pursuit. 

As the car continued on I-80, it reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. The pursuit was called off as officials entered a work zone near mile post 209. Once out of the work zone, officials resumed the pursuit and tried to initiate a traffic stop for a second time. 

The car exited State Route 8 and continued south before heading west on Boston Mills Road. Due to the suspects high speed and the curved roadway, officials, again, called off the pursuit. 

Shortly after, the car was located having crashed on Boston Mills Road. It traveled left on the roadway and struck a guardrail and overturned down an embankment.  

The driver of the BMW was identified as 24-year-old Michael Simbo of Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania. He was transported to Summa Health Hospital where he was treated and released. Upon his release, Simbo was taken to the Summit County Jail and charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, one count of aggravated vehicular assault and failure to comply fleeing. 

Simbo's passenger, identified as 18-year-old Starr Adams, was also taken to Summa Health with non-life threatening injuries. 

Ramon Smith, 22, of Flint Michigan and Ari'onna Taylor, 16, of Chester, Pennsylvania were also in the car at the time of the crash. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.   

According to officials, several items were thrown form the car during the pursuit. A search for potential contraband is underway along the roadway taken by the suspect .

Police also reports that the BMW involved in the pursuit is also connected to a shooting that occurred in Pennsylvania.
