Tickets are now on sale for the Akron Zoo's "Wild for Wine" wine tasting event, the zoo announced today.

The adults-only tasting event will take place on Saturday, Aug 13 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Tickets include admission to the zoo and nine tastings from local wineries stationed around the grounds.

The non-profit zoo closes at 5 p.m. over the summer, so "Wild for Wine" guests can see the zoo after hours. Other activities planned include live painting demonstrations including an encounter with a painting turtle and a "Galapagos tortoise shell rubbing," the Zoo said in a press release.

Participating wineries include Bent Ladder Cider and Wine, Cherry Road Winery, It's Your Winery, Maize Valley, Nauti Vine Winery, Sunny Slope Winery, Troutman Vineyards and Winery, Ugly Bunny Winery, White Timbers Winery and the Winery at Wolf Creek.

Food trucks will also be on site, including 28th Street & South, A Moveable Feast and Manna Food Truck.

Tickets cost $30 for zoo members and $35 for non-members. Tickets are offered at a reduced price for designated drivers, costing $19 for members and $24 for non-members.

Tickets can be purchased on the Akron Zoo's website at akronzoo.org/wild-for-wine.
