CLEVELAND, Ohio — The local music community is rallying around an artist who lost most of his life’s work after looters trashed a downtown club.
Corry Michaels lost gear and equipment, including but not limited to software, research, data, and intellectual property from Stella’s Music Club on East 9th Street.
"I had to take a moment and step back and realize my music was a casualty for something bigger that’s going on around me," Michaels told 3News. "Look at what everyone else is losing right now, people are losing their businesses and furthermore people are losing their lives."
Michaels says within hours, people were offering assistance.
Morgan Passek is a spokesperson for Virtual Shows CLE, the group working to help. They want to showcase his talents and help him get his equipment back through fundraising.
"It’s really like the power of social media but really it’s the power of community and the beauty of Cleveland," she said.
