Westlake animal control officer rescues owl that was hit by car

The owl was given a clean bill of health and released after being struck by a vehicle on I-90.

CLEVELAND — An owl was rescued by a Westlake animal control officer after being hit by a car on Thursday, police said.

According to a social media post from the Westlake Police Department, a great horned owl was struck by a car on I-90. The department says an animal control officer with the department rescued the owl from the grill of an SUV. 

The police department added that the owl was evaluated by the Lake Erie Nature Center. He was given a clean bill of health before being released back into the wild.
