CLEVELAND — Sure these boxes, which are filled with toys and treats, make it convenient because they're delivered right at your doorstep.
But are they worth the price?
We did some un-boxing and shopping to find out. We chose Barkbox, which has about 600,000 subscribers.
There are many different options to choose from. In our box, we ordered one month for a medium-sized dog, and we chose the extra toy option. So we got three toys, two bags of treats and an extra bone.

Next we hit a big box pet store. We looked for the least expensive toy with a squeaker. We found one for $3.99. Two bags of less expensive treats came to $4.99 a bag. Next on our list was a quality bone for $6.99.
Our total came to less than $25.
If you don’t order the extra toy in the Barkbox, you are spending about $29 for a medium-sized dog. We found you do save by shopping yourself, but the cost isn’t that far apart. It comes down to what you want: Convenience or a face-to-face experience at the store.
