CLEVELAND — The Department of Justice has awarded approximately $2.3 million to public safety departments across Northern Ohio.
The money is to be used to help respond to the financial challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis.
The funding is available through a federal program which allows for eligible state, local, and tribal governments to support activities to prevent, prepare for and respond to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The money will help safety departments pay for costs associated with the pandemic such as overtime, medical personal protective equipment, hiring, training and other expenses.
Cleveland will get $1,719,898.00; Akron will get $403,225.00; Youngstown will get $139,000.00; Trumbull County will get $ 58,008.00 and Lorain County will get $58,008.00.
