Akron police asking for help finding suspect who stole laptop from disabled veteran

The suspect stole the laptop from an apartment in the 900 block of East Market Street on November 12th, 2020.

AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Police Department is asking for your help in their search for a suspect who stole a laptop from a disabled veteran.

In a post on their Facebook page, the Akron Police Department says that a male suspect named 'Jeremy' stole the laptop from an apartment in the 900 block of East Market Street in Akron on November 12th, 2020. 

Jeremy's last name is not known. He is described as a White male, 30 years old, between 5'6" and 5'9" with short brown hair.

The laptop stolen belongs to a Mr. Hershberger, who is a disabled veteran. According to the post, he relied on his laptop for communication and a source of entertainment, as he is a paraplegic bound to a wheelchair and is also speech impaired.

Detective Ken Dies of the Akron Police Department is still working to solve the case. In the meantime, he was able to get a laptop donated to Mr. Hershberger through his family business, Dies Electric. 

Mr. Hershberger was reportedly "very happy and grateful" to receive the gift.
