Man shot and killed in East Cleveland; police investigating

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — One man is dead following a shooting late Friday night in East Cleveland.

According to a Facebook post, police were called to the 1300 block of East 142nd Street at approximately 11:25 p.m. for a report of a male down. When officers arrived, they found a man lying face-down between two homes, with two apparent gunshot wounds to the back of the head.

The victim was taken to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about 20 minutes after the original call. His identity is not known at this time.

Authorities are asking anyone that was in the area during the aforementioned time Friday night or anyone with information regarding this incident to please call the East Cleveland Police Detective  Bureau at (216) 681-2162 or Cuyahoga County CrimeStoppers at (216) 252-7463. A potential reward of up to $2,500 is available for such tips.
