PARMA, Ohio — A 21-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in Jacksonville, Fla., where he fled after allegedly shooting a 28-year-old victim in Parma earlier this week, the city's police department announced.
Gregory Alan Jones Jr. is awaiting extradition to Cuyahoga County on charges of felonious assault. He is accused of shooting a 28-year-old male three times near the intersection of State Road and Tuxedo Avenue in Parma on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at approximately 4 a.m.
The victim, who was known to Jones, was transported to MetroHealth and is expected to survive.
Parma police said Jones "immediately fled the area" after the shooting, leaving the victim in a vehicle stopped near the intersection of Pearl Road and Brookpark Road.
Soon after, police allege Jones left Northeast Ohio altogether, ending up in Jacksonville where he was eventually arrested with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service.
