SANDUSKY COUNTY, Ohio — Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run crash on the Ohio Turnpike that left one man dead.

Michael Sweeny of Elyria was headed eastbound on the Turnpike Sunday evening, when his car crashed into the back of a commercial trailer. According to OSHP, the two vehicles pulled over to the side of the Turnpike before the trailer left the scene. Sweeny later died from his injuries.

Troopers are now looking or anyone with information that might help their investigation. They're looking for a potentially white commercial trailer that may have damage to the back end, though witnesses on the scene were not sure of the color. OSHP is analyzing debris and parts from the suspected truck.

Anyone with knowledge of what happened is asked to call OSHP's Milan post at (419) 499-4808.
