Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff was joined by the following medical professionals during Thursday's briefing:
- Amy Edwards, MD, FAAP, Associate Medical Director of Women’s and Children’s Infection Control, University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital
- Joe Gastaldo, MD, Medical Director of Infectious Diseases, OhioHealth
“While there’s no doubt we are quickly moving in the right direction, it’s simply too early for us to declare victory given the reality that thousands of Ohioans are still being diagnosed with COVID-19 each and every day,” Dr. Vanderhoff said earlier this month in a previous COVID press conference.
Ohio’s 21-day average for new COVID infections now stands at 2,517, according to data from 2 p.m. Wednesday. That’s down from the 8,675 average reported just two weeks ago.
The number of Ohioans fully vaccinated has now topped 57 percent.
