Just one day after announcing the return of the critically acclaimed Broadway musical "Wicked," Playhouse Square is again turning heads with news of more shows heading to Northeast Ohio -- this time in Akron.

On Wednesday, officials announced that Playhouse Square will bring several beloved musicals to the University of Akron's E.J. Thomas Hall, beginning this fall with Sara Bareilles' hit adapted musical, "Waitress."

“After an unthinkably long intermission, it feels great to bring Broadway’s best back to our amazing Akron audiences,” said Senior Vice President of Programming at Playhouse Square David Greene. “We have missed our friends at E.J. Thomas Hall and The University of Akron, and we are so happy to be working with them again.”

Playing November 30 and December 1, "Anastasia," will transport theatergoers to Paris and Russia in the 1900s, in this harrowing tale of love and finding your family.

Tony Award-winning musical "Hairspray" will kick off 2022, with shows playing on April 12 and April 13.
