The crash happened on West Bartges Street near LaSalle Drive.

AKRON, Ohio — Police in Akron have identified the child cyclist who was struck and killed by a passing motorcycle Friday morning.

The victim has been identified as 15-year-old Damiyon L. Frazier from Copley. His name had been withheld until his family had been notified.

The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. on West Bartges Street near LaSalle Drive. When officers arrived, they found the boy in the road with fatal head injuries. He died at the scene.

A witness told police three motorcyclists were traveling westbound in the left lane of West Bartges Street when they approached the boy, who was riding a bike in the same lane. The first two motorcycles changed lanes to pass the boy, but the third struck him.

The 30-year-old motorcyclist was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not announced any potential charges, but say speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
