43-year-old shot, killed after suspect fires into Cleveland home

An initial investigation reveals that the man was inside of the home with a small child when an unknown suspect fired a shot from the street which came into the home

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police is searching for suspects today after a 43-year-old man was shot and killed in Cleveland Friday morning. 

According to officials, the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. when officers responded to the 12200 block of Rexford Avenue in Cleveland for reports of shots fired. 

Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a 43-year-old ale unconscious in the dining room of a home who had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.

EMS arrived on scene and the male, whose identity has not been revealed at this time, was pronounced dead.

Cleveland police officials tell 3News that an initial investigation reveals that the man was inside of the home with a small child when an unknown suspect fired a shot from the street which came into the home and struck the man in the chest. The child inside of the home at the time was uninjured. 

The suspect or suspects fled the scene. 

This matter remains under investigation by the Cleveland Division of Police.
