Cleveland police officers could be disciplined for giving fake badge number

One of the officers allegedly gave the badge number of fallen Cleveland police officer David Fahey.

There could soon be discipline for two Cleveland Police officers accused of ignoring a woman’s request for help and then giving her the wrong badge numbers when she asked who they were.

Paris King claims she was hurt and robbed last year in a fight among women at Royal Klassic’s Bar.

When she left, she said she saw two policemen parked outside and approached them. She claims she pointed out the suspects, told them they had her keys, and said she wanted to press charges.

“They did nothing. They didn’t even get out of the car,” King said. “If they don’t want to serve and protect, they shouldn’t be there.

The next day she went to the station.

“I wanted to make a police report on the girls and I wanted to make a police report on the cops,” she said.

It was then she noticed the same officers were there.

“The officers end up coming out…I said ‘Y’all want to give me your badge numbers now?’” King said.

One of them allegedly gave “2457,” the retired badge number of fallen Cleveland Police Officer David Fahey. The other allegedly told her “1-2-3-4.”

She learned the first number was connected to Officer Fahey when she tried to file a report.

Frustrated, she left the station and eventually took her complaint to the Cleveland Civilian Police Review Board.

Last week, the board recommended discipline for the officers. The chief has two weeks to decide what that may be.

Because she claims she could never file that report, King said the women who attacked her were never charged.

She said the experience left her with anxiety and paranoia.

“It broke my heart,” she said.

The officer’s names have not been released.
