ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — An Amber Alert that was issued early Monday morning in Northeast Ohio was canceled at 6:49 a.m. after Rocky River police say the missing 3-year-old girl was found safe.
The suspect in the Amber Alert has also been taken into custody, according to police. She's identified as the child's mother -- 40-year-old Cathleen Marie Collins.
Collins has been charged with burglary and criminal trespass in Rocky River Municipal Court. She is due to be arraigned on March 12.
Although additional details are limited, police issued the Amber Alert after reporting that the child was last seen at 1:56 a.m. in the 19700 block of Riverwood Avenue in Rocky River.
3News has learned that Collins works as an intervention specialist at North Olmsted City Schools, which provided the following message:
"Ms. Cathleen Collins has been an employee of North Olmsted City Schools since 2015. This morning we were made aware that she was taken into police custody pending investigation related to a personal matter. Ms. Collins has been placed on paid leave while this investigation is ongoing. While this matter is not related to Ms. Collins’ role as an intervention specialist, the district will continue to work with local police to stay informed on this investigation." - North Olmsted City Schools.
