In an e-mail sent to staff and the families of students from Superintendent Dr. Cameron M. Ryba, the student who was located in a classroom on Sunday, was released to his parents by police. According to the Strongsville Police Department, 16-year-old Aidan Bellucci was reported missing on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. Police announced Bellucci was found safe just after 3 p.m. on Sunday.

On late Sunday night, the Strongsville Police Department helped conduct a thorough search of the building, which yielded no specific threat to the high school. However, out of an abundance of caution, Dr. Ryba opted to cancel classes at the high school for Monday. "I did have concerns about a student being unsupervised at the school for an extended period of time," Ryba wrote to families and staff.

Dr. Ryba said that the day off from classes allowed he and Principal Bill Wingler to meet with staff and conduct an additional search of the high school. The Strongsville Police Department was once again present to provide support on Monday.

With areas of the building having been thoroughly checked and found safe, students are scheduled to return to classes on Tuesday, March 1. Athletic practices will also be able to resume on Monday afternoon.

Tuesday also marks an ACT testing day for juniors at the school. As a part of a previously scheduled asynchronous day for all non-junior students at the high school, juniors should arrive at the normal time for school and report to their testing room assignments, while Polaris Seniors will have their classes as scheduled and transportation will be provided at the regular times.

All students at the high school are set to return to in-person classes on Wednesday, March 2nd.

"As a District, we will continue to prioritize the safety of all of our students and staff," Dr. Ryba said. "We appreciate your understanding as we worked through these circumstances last evening and this morning."
