The training session will take place this Tuesday, July 19 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. There will be an increased police presence around the school on Hilliard Boulevard. Westlake Police say businesses and residents should not be alarmed as the session is planned.

Scenarios will include shouting and screaming inside of the building and will involve simulations using blank-fire ammunition.

The Westlake Police Department released a statement on the announcement of these training scenarios:

"The Westlake Police Department is fully committed to preparing and rehearsing to professionally respond to any incident that may occur in the city.  This is just another example of ongoing training in best practices for all of our employees to make Westlake one of the safest communities in Northeast Ohio."
