Police: Painesville teen injured in alleged fight, shooting

The 17-year-old Painesville boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

CLEVELAND — A Painesville teen is recovering after being injured in a reported fight and shooting on Saturday, police said. 

The Painesville Police Department announced on social media Sunday that the victim, a 17-year-old boy, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. 

Police responded to the area of Brentwood Drive and Chestnut Street just before 3 p.m. after a report of a fight and a shooting in the vicinity.

Shortly after officers arrived, police say the teen arrived at a University Hospitals campus in Concord with injuries. He was later transported to the main UH campus in Cleveland for further treatment. 

The Painesville Police Department did not release any further information about the teen's identity or whether a suspect has been identified. 

Painesville police are investigating the incident. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call the police department at 440-392-5840.
