Social media reacts to Gov. Mike DeWine clearing way for high school sports to proceed this fall

"Let's play some football!"

COLUMBUS, Ohio — After weeks of anticipation, Gov. Mike DeWine announced on Tuesday that he will allow high school sports to go forward this fall.

The order will apply for both contact and non contact sports.

The governor acknowledged that several school districts, particularly in urban areas of the state, have postponed all fall sports due to concerns about coronavirus. DeWine stated that those districts will have the option to play their seasons in the spring. In addition, DeWine mentioned that there will not be fans at events, outside of family members.

Now that the green light has been given to high school sports for this fall, let's check out the reaction we've seen from you on social media.

Here's what you had to say on Facebook:

Kynslee Althoff Pearrell - "Will athletes be tested before practices, games, etc?"

Jim Doc Kobie - "What an irresponsible thing to do especially when theages of recent covid admissions are much younger than a few months ago especially in Cuyahoga county."

Brandy Kern - "Let’s play some football"

Joe Brown - "So no schools, daycares limit to 9 a room, wear a mask, stay 6 feet away, no alcohol at bars after 10 pm but let's play football, smh"

Andy Mast - "High school should have a limited amount of fans to attend the games"

This is a sample of what we saw on Twitter.
