A busy week of dealing for the Cleveland Indians continued Friday evening as the Tribe traded first baseman Yonder Alonso to the Chicago White Sox.
The deal, first reported by Watch Stadium as well as Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic and Fox Sports, was made official Saturday morning.
In exchange for Alonso, the Indians received minor-league outfielder Alex Call. The 24-year-old Call hit a combined .248 in Class A and AA action in 2018, with 12 home runs and 58 RBI in 123 games.
In his one year with the Indians, Alonso hit .250 with 23 home runs and 83 runs batted in. He became expendable after the Indians acquired both Carlos Santana and Jake Bauers in the three-team deal that sent Edwin Encarnacion to Seattle and Yandy Diaz to Tampa Bay on Thursday.
